No Darkness at All

In the creation record of Genesis One, the first thing the Almighty brought into being was light. Without light, the Scriptures declare that darkness was upon the face of the deep. More than three millennia later, Isaiah would prophesy of the great light of the promised Messiah which would shine upon them that sat in spiritual darkness. The Fourth of Matthew records the fulfillment of that prophecy. Ironically, the First of John describes the Savior as a Light which shown in the darkness, though the darkness comprehended it not. In His conversation with Nicodemus at John Three, the Lord explained that, although light had come into the world, men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. Lest their deeds should be reproved, wicked men hate the light and avoid it. Because light and dark have nothing in common, John wrote that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
