Daily Lift – May 22, 2016

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14).

It seems strange to think that God can be jealous. It is strange to think that His name is Jealous. Two truths are important to remember. First, there is no other God than God. Second, God desires a relationship will all of His creatures. When man turns to something that is no good, God is jealous. He loves man. He wants the relationship. He wonders: “Why? Why would anyone choose those things that are false, dead, and futile over a God who is true, living, loving, and beneficent?

Do you worship something other than the God of heaven? Could it be self? A job? Another person? Riches? Sports? You are supposed to be God’s. When you give your allegiance to another, He becomes a very jealous God. He loves you and desires you that much!
