Only on His Terms –

Naaman was Captain of the Host of the King of Syria. 1 1 Kings Five describes him as a mighty man of valor, and a great and honorable man in the eyes of the King, because that through Naaman God had given deliverance unto Syria. For all the glowing things Naaman had to his credit, he had one severe limitation; he was a leper. Leprosy is a disease causing ulcerations and deformities of the skin. Body parts can actually waste away. Disease is no respecter persons, and God is not, either. The wage of sin is death for everyone, and the cure for one person’s sins is the cure for the sins of the world. The prophet Elisha told Naamam to dip seven times in the Jordan River to receive a cure for his leprosy. Though Naaman did not like the prescription, once persuaded to comply with it, his flesh came to him as that of a little child, and he was clean. Many do not agree with the simple provisions of the Gospel, but they remain in their sins as a result. Regardless of what levels of accomplishment and recognition they may have to their credit, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. However, it is the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses from all sin, but only on His terms.
