Still Need Some Polish

The Genesis record tells us that God formed man of the dust of the earth, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. The material out of which man is made is regarded as unwelcome on the floor and furnishings of our homes and is swept out the door as refuse. Yet, touch that same material with the finger of God and it becomes humanity. What God intended to accomplish by doing so is evidenced by the fact that man was made in the image of his Creator. Though that image is destroyed by sin, it is an image restored in Christ, by Whom the destructive sin is remitted. Man, created of dust and spiritually recreated in Jesus, is provided a path to excellence where none had formerly been. The bad in him may be remedied and the good in him improved. Everyone has had imperfections that needed perfecting, and the most excellent among us still need some polish.
