From the Heart

First, there is what God expects from His people. Then, there is the way He wants those things done. At the First of Isaiah, God spoke through the prophet to require Judah to be washed and cleansed, putting away evil and ceasing to perform it. They were to learn to do well and seek judgment, relieving the oppression of the fatherless and the widow. These were what God wanted done, and here is how He wanted it done; He said if Judah was willing and obedient, they would eat of the good of the land. But, if they refused and rebelled, they would be devoured with the sword. Al things considered, how all this is done is as important as what is done, and the same principle still applies. At the Sixth of Romans, Paul was thankful that they who had been the servants of sine had obeyed from the heart the form of doctrine delivered unto them. What is required is obedience to the true doctrine of truth. How it is done is from the heart.
