Life More Abundantly

At the Tenth of John’s Gospel, the Savior refers to Himself as the Good Shepherd Who giveth
His life for the sheep. As one described as after the Lord’s own heart, David understood the peril a shepherd would endure for the protection of the flock. Just prior to facing Goliath in battle, David related to Saul that he had slain a lion and a bear in defense of his father’s sheep. As David placed himself in harm’s way for the sake of his father’s flock, Jehovah placed His only begotten Son in harm’s way for the sake of humanity, who are described as the sheep. Because of the Savior’s sacrifice, the sheep have protection in the fold, sustenance in the pasture, and life more abundantly.
