Worship in Ignorance
In his sermon on Mars Hill, the apostle Paul referred at least twice to the ignorance evident in the religious beliefs and activities of the Athenians. Among those things of which Paul spoke at the Seventeenth of Acts was an apparent ignorance of Who God is. Paul declared God unto them to be the Creator of the world and all things therein, and to be Lord of Heaven and earth. The apostle described God as making all the nations of men of one blood, and as determining their point of origin and the span of their life. It is in God, Paul said, that we live, and move, and have our being, and the purpose of man is to seek after the Lord that made him until He be found. To attempt the worship of God and not know these things is to worship in ignorance.
