Without Patience We Lose Them
While the seventy of Luke Ten seemed joyously enthusiastic at their success at casting out devils, the First of James tells us we may actually count it a joy to fall into various temptations of Satan. This, not because we are given license to find joy in the indulgences with which he tempts us, but rather because we find joy in every opportunity to defeat him. It is our faith that is being tried at times of temptation. Therefore, those without faith lack a basic necessity for spiritual success. Such trials of faith work patience, and patience in adversity paves the way to spiritual perfection. Since the savior taught us at the Twenty-First of Luke that it is in patience that we possess our souls, it is without such patience that we lose them.
