Jesus did not come into this world for His own good. He had us in mind. Christ said in His own words, “Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). Leaving the glories of heaven and setting aside His equality with the Father (John 17:5; Philippians 2:6-8),
Jesus came to be one of us. And why? In order that He might save us (Hebrews 2:9). Paul expected the Corinthians to be well-versed in this concept. He wrote, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ….” We need to know this as well, and to be reminded of it often. The natural response to such selfless love is for us to give ourselves (2 Corinthians 5:14-15).
