But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it (Numbers 14:24).
Caleb was one of the twelve sent to search out the Land of Canaan. They found it to be “land flowing with milk and honey,” but ten of the twelve brought back a negative report which greatly discouraged the people. Only Caleb and Joshua were eventually permitted to enter (Joshua 14:12). He had another spirit. Caleb’s was a can do spirit. “We are well able to overcome it” (Numbers 13:30). His was a courageous spirit. “The Lord is with us: fear them not” (Numbers 14:9). He “hath followed me fully.”
When God commissions us to a great undertaking, such as taking the gospel to a lost world, may we look for the opportunities rather than focusing on the obstacles. May our faith that God is with us, in every right undertaking, empower us (Matthew 28:20).
