Can two walk together, except they be agreed (Amos 3:3).
The courageous southern prophet castigated a
number of nations; none more severely than
his brethren and neighbors to the north (Israel).
God’s love for them demanded His punishment
of them (Amos 3:2; cf. Deuteronomy 7:6-8).
In the passage cited, God, through Amos, asked
a rhetorical question which echoes through the
centuries, and provides us with a warning lest
waywardness characterize us as it did them.
Indeed, no one can claim to “walk together”
with God while at the same time living in
disagreement with His Word, Will and Way.
Oh! But, to the contrary, how glorious it is to
walk with Him in agreement to Him! (Psalm
119:105; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 John 1:7).
