What Makes You Strong
At the Sixth of John’s Gospel, the Savior described Himself as the Bread of Life, or the Living Bread which came down from Heaven. order to distinguish this Spiritual Bread from the physical, Christ reminded His audience that their ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, and died. However, those that partook of Him as Spiritual Bread would not spiritually die. This helps us to understand what the Lord said to.- Satan at the Fourth of Matthew’s Gospel, when He declared at Verse Four that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Bread nourishes only the body for a temporal existence. The Spiritual Bread of Christ nourishes the soul for an eternal existence. While the Savior identified the Bread of Life as His flesh given for the sins of the world, the First of John t s Gospel describes the Lord Christ as the Word, and it is that by which a man lives. It is not of that Bread and Word which we eat, but what we digest, that makes us strong.
