Self Over the Savior

When we are young, success in life tends to be defined as career, home, automobiles, and such things. As we age, it would be a pity if we did not also become wiser. With that wisdom should come the understanding that the most important things in life are not things at all, but the treasures we lay up in Heaven. Our Savior taught at the Sixteenth of Matthew that following Him required self-denial, as well as acceptance of a cross of responsibility in His Kingdom. To use our potentials only for selfish purposes is to lose life as the Lord intended for our lives to be. To use our potentials for His purposes is to have the most fulfilled life possible. Those failing to learn this lesson will eventually be willing to give all their material and temporal gain, and more, just to have another chance to make the correct choices. It is a false economy when an investment yields less than it cost, and such is the case with the foolish choice of self over Savior.
