Frighteningly Familiar
At the First of Romans, the apostle Paul warned that the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. At Deuteronomy Six, God warned Israel that one of the ways His anger is manifested is by destroying them from off the face of the earth. While a people can be destroyed by utter annihilation, they may also be destroyed by the dissolution of their nation and loss of their homeland. At the Twenty-Eighth of Deuteronomy and the First of Isaiah, God warned His people that He would punish them by bringing against them a people of fierce countenance whose tongue they could not understand. These invaders would devour the land before the very eyes of its natives, showing no mercy upon old or young. Do these things sound frighteningly familiar?
