Spirit of Satan
Some have thought so highly of another as to declare that any friend of his is a friend of theirs. However, the Fourth of James cautions us that friendship with the carnal world is enmity with God. In order to draw nigh unto God, one must become resistant to the devil who tempts humanity with worldly things. We are promised that Satan flees from those who resist him and that God draws nigh unto them who do so. Those who have been previously deceived by the devil are called upon to cleanse their hands of sin. The double-minded who have supposed it possible to engage at once in both sin and righteousness are called upon to purify their hearts, where the Spirit of God would dwell; for His Spirit will share neither space nor allegiance with the spirit of Satan.
