What is Written
It is said that Native Americans believed one man should not judge another until he had walked a mile in his moccasins. Similarly, the Savior has walked that proverbial mile in our shoes. The Fourth of Hebrews tells us that Christ was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin. The Fourth of Matthew records that Satan tempted the Lord in multiple ways. Each time the devil expressed what he wanted from Jesus, the Savior responded with Scripture to declare what the Father wanted for Him to do. Hence, we learn that temptation does not become sin unless that temptation is heeded. Further, we learn that every time Satan tempts, we must confidently resort to the Word of God and defend ourselves with what is written.
