Purged Our Sins
The First of the Hebrew Epistle declares that it was Jesus Christ Who by Himself purged our sins. The word “purge” in this passage may be defined as “cleanse thoroughly.” No cleansing could be more thorough than the one described at First John One. When we walk in the spiritual light where there is fellowship with the Lord, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Because not even those in that light are perfect, we are further assured that confession of our sins results in being cleansed from all unrighteousness. Twice in the same passage we are promised a thorough cleansing. According to the Eighth of Romans, there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus and who walk after the Spirit. By Himself, He hath indeed purged our sins.
