Outside the Box

When someone’s ideas or imagination seem to be anything but normal or typical, that person may be described as “thinking outside the box.” It might be said that the Lord Himself thinks outside what we consider to be our proverbial box, for He declares at the Fifty-Fifth of Isaiah that His ways and thoughts are higher than our own by the distance from earth unto heaven. Mary was asked to think outside the box when the angel Gabriel told the virgin she would bear the promised Messiah. Joseph was asked to think outside the box when he was told that Mary had conceived of the Holy Ghost. Nicodemus was asked to think outside the box when the Lord told him a man must be born again. The disciples were asked to think outside the box when asked to walk off their jobs to do the Lord’s work instead. We are all asked to think outside the worldly box for Christ’s sake, and the disciples were astonished at what was possible when they thought outside the box.
