The True Virtue
There has been debate and discussion over the years about whether children are better prepared for life by knowing more about the evil that is in it or by the attempt to maintain their naive innocence. Regarding the latter option, Eden was a spiritually perfect place before Satan encouraged exposure to the knowledge of good and evil. More than four thousand years later, Paul the apostle praised the Church at Rome because their obedience to the Word had become known everywhere. Even with all this to their credit, Paul still encouraged them to be simple and innocent regarding evil, but wise about what is good. At the Sixteenth of Luke, the Savior taught that the worldly had excelled at worldliness more than the children of light had at spiritual wisdom, though the latter is the true virtue.
