The Greatest Conqueror of All

It has been said that one cannot understand the New Testament without understanding the Old Testament. This is true because the Old Testament is the type of that which is anti-typed in the New Testament. For example, the bondage of Israel in Egypt is allegorical of the bondage of the world in sin. Moses becomes the type of Christ regarding deliverance from bondage. It should be noted that Israel at times expressed a desire to return to Egypt in preference to following Jehovah’s lead to the land of promise; this, in spite of the fact that their suffering had been great in Egypt, and the Egyptians also would suffer at the hands of their enemies. Similarly, some who have been delivered from sin have returned to it; this, in spite of the fact that suffering brought by sin is great, and Satan himself suffers defeat by the greatest Conqueror of all.
