Ill Effects
When God led Israel to victory over the city of Jericho, they were instructed that the valuables there were to come into the treasury of the Lord. Achan, however, took some of the spoils and hid them in his tent. That single act of disobedience cost Israel a failure at their next military campaign, and the destruction of Achan, his family, and all they owned. At the Fifth of Acts, Ananias and Sapphira were punished with death when they offered a portion of proceeds from a land sale under the pretense of offering it all. A single deception cost them both their lives. The folly of sin is magnified when one supposes that it has no ill effects.
