Ready to God
Doug Poling retired from the CBS Radio and Television Network after serving twenty-five years as a newscaster, correspondent, and broadcast journalist. During his career with CBS, Mr. Poling always kept luggage packed and ready to go because he never knew when he would be sent traveling to report on a developing news story in a far-away place. A similar sense of perpetual preparedness should be the norm of every faithful child of God expecting to live eternally with the Father. David described a man’s life as a wind that goes by and comes not again and as but a passing shadow. James described life as vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. The Ninth of Hebrews solemnly acknowledges the judgment that follows man’s appointment with death. The faithful and the wise are always ready to go.
