Converted nor Healed
While the Fourth of Matthew’s Gospel comes to a close with the Savior healing all manner of sickness and disease among the people, Chapter Five opens with the Lord taking advantage of the assemblage of a multitude to provide information regarding the far more important spiritual healing. He would do so by teaching them that beautiful series of lessons we now refer to collectively as the Sermon on the Mount. In order for the audiences to benefit from what the Savior had to say, they would have to see with perception the eternal truths He taught and hear them with understanding. Those that failed to do so were described by Isaiah as having closed eyes and ears dull of hearing. Such, the Lord said at the Thirteenth of Matthew, can never be converted nor healed.
