Man has several fears. One is death. Death is a powerful enemy. No man can defeat it. It always takes life. It can come suddenly. It can come after long periods of pain and illness.

It seems strange to think that God can be jealous. It is strange to think that His name is Jealous. Two truths are important to remember. First, there is no other God than God. Second, God desires a relationship will all of His creatures.

Hope is the expectation of the end. Hope is that which keeps all men pushing forward in their endeavors. God is “the God of hope.” God reveals the hope of the resurrection, the hope of heaven, and the hope of everlasting life.

Samuel was one of God’s great servants. He is mentioned in Faith’s Hall of Fame (Hebrews 11:32). His sons, however, did not follow in dad’s footsteps. Unfortunately having a good father is no guarantee the sons will be good too.

The Christian has been called out of the world by the gospel of Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:14). This call involves a certain lifestyle (Titus 2:11-12). This lifestyle was mapped out by the Christ during His earthly ministry. One of the aspects of this life involves suffering. Fortunately, Jesus has paved the way in suffering. He is our example.
