Faith and Love –
Although others could be mentioned, there are two things without which we cannot please God. At the Twenty Second of Matthew’s Gospel, the Savior declared that the first and great commandment was to love the Lord God with all of one’s heart, soul, and mind. Therefore, one thing without which we cannot please God is the love of Him. That love is to be with the seat of one’s affection, which is his heart, with the soul, which is the eternal portion of one’s being made in the image of God, and with the mind, the seat of one’ s intellect. Yet, the Eleventh of the Hebrew Epistle teaches us that it is impossible to please God without faith. Interestingly, it is by works of obedience to God that both love for God and faith in God are demonstrated. Our Lord said at John Fourteen, “If ye love Me, keep My commandments , while the Second of James tells us no fewer than three times that faith without works is dead. Without our willing obedience, Heaven is still waiting to see our faith and love.
