State of Being One

At the One Hundred Thirty-Third Psalm, David wrote about how good and pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together in unity. Though David’s life experiences would provide him ample opportunities to see illustrated the truth of this principle, he likely could not fully comprehend the greater application of it in the age yet to come. At the Tenth of John’s Gospel, the Savior spoke of uniting the sheep of the Jew and Gentile into a single fold with a single Shepherd. In both his Roman and Corinthian epistles, Paul the apostle noted that the many had become one body of believers in Christ. As such, Paul told the Corinthians they were to speak the same thing, have no divisions among them, and be of the same mind and judgment. In so doing, they fulfill Paul’s admonition to the Ephesians to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace; and that unity perfectly demonstrates the state of being one.
