We Should Follow Him
As John the Baptist prepared the hearts of men to receive the Savior, he admonished the Pharisees and Sadducees not to regard their plight as descendants of Abraham as differing from that of anyone else. At First Peter One, the apostle continued that theme by pointing out that God judges every man without respect of persons. All are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, and none are saved in any other manner. Though the tendency of many has been to justify the religious beliefs and practices of their loved ones, Peter declared that the vain practices of the ancestors of his audience had neither saved nor benefited them. It is by Christ that they had believed in God at all, and, at Chapter Two, Peter added that Christ, by His suffering, left us an example that we should follow Him.
