Something He Wants You to Do

The Eleventh of Genesis records the departure of Abram and his family from Ur of the Chaldees. To be known as Abraham more than twenty years later, it was in Haran that Terah, Abram’s father, died. At the age of seventy-five, Abram was to be on the move again enroute to Canaan. The Lord God had set Abram on the path out of his father’s country to a land to be given to his descendants, and neither age nor profound personal loss seemed to be enough to prevent him from completing a Divinely given mission. Also not discouraging to him was the prospect of a childless man and his wife ever having descendants at all, much more have a great nation who would call him “Father.” Even more important among all this was that the Savior Himself would be brought into the world by Abram’s progeny. Should you dwell in your proverbial Ur or Haran, hesitate not if the Lord should indicate there is somewhere He wants you to go and something He wants you to do.
