Harvest of Righteousness
After the ancient people Israel had become guilty of idolatry, God assured Moses that the sin of the people would be visited upon them. Subsequently, the Lord plagued the people because of the golden calf they had fashioned and worshiped. The Twelfth of Hebrews assures us that, to this day, the people of God who sin can expect their Heavenly Father to similarly respond. Everyone whom the Lord accepts as His child will be subject to His discipline, and this He does out of love. As proper earthly fathers correct their children based on their own best judgment, God’s discipline is always for our good, that we may share in His holiness. If Jehovah did not so correct His own, children would be neglected as if they were not legitimately His. The result of Divine discipline is a harvest of righteousness.
