Children of Disobedience
At the Fifth of Ephesians, Paul the apostle wrote in the first six verses of an assortment of transgressions. Any or all of these, he wrote, provoke the wrath of God upon those who are guilty of them. At the Third of Colossians, Paul expanded the list of offenses and again warned that it is for these things that the wrath of God cometh upon the children of disobedience. The Ephesians were cautioned not to be deceived by the vain words of anyone concerning these things. That advice is well taken in our age of permissiveness, in which even public policy seeks to redefine what is acceptable behavior. John warned that those denying guilt have no truth in them and that they deny the Lord’s word on the matter. Now, as then, the wrath of God cometh upon the children of disobedience.
