Daily Lift – August 22, 2016

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip (Hebrews 2:1).

In Romans 10:17 the Bible says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” In verse one of Hebrews the writer encourages us to pay special attention to what we have heard. God is speaking to us daily, and that is what builds our faith.

In Hebrews chapter 11 we see that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” and this can only happen when we hear from the Lord.

It comes to no surprise to me that we are instructed to “heed the things we have heard,” because that truly keeps us from drifting away.
