God is With Us

At the Second of Acts, Peter taught that the gift of the Holy Ghost would be received by those who were baptized for the remission of sins. Interestingly, it was by the Spirit that the Savior promised His presence with His disciples following His ascension as stated at the Fourteenth of John. As Matthew reflected upon the birth of Christ, he noted “Emmanuel” as one of the names by which the Lord would be known; it interprets as “God with us.” Having described Himself as a manifestation of the Father at John Fourteen, we understand God to have been with man in the physical person of the Savior and by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit presently in every obedient believer. In these is fulfilled the namesake of Christ, that God is with us.
