What God Requires
When one is poring over a text book in an attempt to learn and master the material, he is said to be studying. Such studying requires diligence, and it is precisely that which Paul said at Second Timothy Two is necessary to become approved of God. In the King James Translation, “study” is the word used for “diligence” in the passage. It should be noted that diligence needs to be given to the learning of the Scriptures because the ability to handle aright the Word of truth is necessary for those seeking God’s approval. Paul cautions that they have cause to be ashamed who would be workmen in the Lord’s Kingdom but yet have failed to properly equip themselves with the knowledge and understanding of what God requires.
