The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous (Proverbs 15:29).

The common question is: “Does God hear the prayers of sinners?” This verse answers the question. God is far from the wicked. However, He hears the prayer of the righteous.

If you desire to be heard, you must be righteous. Righteousness is acquired by obedience to the gospel. Paul wrote: “For therein (the gospel) is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17). John wrote: “…he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous” (1 John 3:7). Doing righteousness involves living by the Lord’s commandments (Psalm 119:172). Dear reader, obey the gospel and live according to God’s commandments and your prayers will be heard.
