Daily Lift – December 16, 2016

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me (Judges 7:2).

Where is victory to be found? John reminds us that victory lies within our faith (1 John 5:4). We will either be “overcomers” by our faith or we will be overcome in our lack of faith.

Gideon was an “overcomer.” We find him positioned to face the Midianites in battle in Judges chapter seven. He began with an army of 32,000 men, and God dwindled his army down to just 300 men. Why? So Israel would know that God’s power was behind their victory.

Today, our victory lies in faith. “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is that essential, rock-solid foundation upon which we hope (Hebrews 11:1, 6). Stand on that solid ground and overcome Satan, your enemy – with God’s help in faith, you can overcome!
