A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity (Proverbs 17:17).
A genuine friend loves in good times and bad times. A genuine friend (brother) will “be there” even when tragedy strikes and there seems to be no way out.
To truly “love” means we will act in the best interest of another. If it requires sacrifice, time, energy, financial help, or other means, we will do all we can to show our love as a true friend.
Our Lord was a true friend. Notice His expressions of love throughout His life.
Another great example of genuine friends can be found in the Old Testament with David and Jonathan. They helped, sacrificed, endured much for each other.
Let us do unto others as we would have them do unto us (Matthew 7:12) – as true friends.
