At First Peter One, the apostle reflected upon the prophets of old who had foretold of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. It is intriguing that the prophets who spoke of these things were not content with the information the Holy Spirit had given them, but sought diligently to discover the time and circumstances of the prophecies’ fulfillment. Ultimately, it would be revealed that it was to be unto a much later generation than their own that all this would come to pass. Because even the angels desired to look into these things, should not we? There is no cause to wonder, then, why Paul prayed for the Colossian Church to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
