Separated from Him
The Twenty Seventh of Matthew records the Savior crying out from the cross and asking His Father why He had forsaken Him. An answer to that question may be discovered among Isaiah’s prophecies. At Chapter Fifty-Nine, the prophet wrote that iniquity separated sinners from God. At Chapter Fifty-Three, Isaiah spoke prophetically that God had laid upon Christ the iniquity of us all. It was upon the cross that the Lamb of God bore the sin of the world, and for that time, as He said, was forsaken of God. In His death was paid the penalty for sin, and in His resurrection was the victory over the same. If the sin of the world separated Christ from God, then surely by the same are the unsaved separated from Him.
