For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring (Acts 17;28).
When Paul made this statement on Mars Hill he was quoting Cleanthes (c. 300 B.C.), who had written a poem in allegiance to Zeus. Paul was able to teach Greek philosophers truth by using methods of their own understanding.
In speaking of Jehovah, who to them was an unknown God, he proved man’s desire to search for a creator, a higher power from
whom all things have come and remain. Jehovah Himself has placed within man a desire to search for God (Acts 17:26-27).
There is only one true and eternal Creator and Sustainer of the universe. We all originate from Him!
