The Memphis School of Preaching is blessed to have a most outstanding library and on the second floor of the beautiful building is located an archive room. One of the artifacts is the paper on which Tillit S. Teddlie wrote his famous song, “Worthy Art Thou.” The hymn comes from the verse quoted above and it is said that brother Teddlie wrote it immediately upon a reading of the passage.
Jesus is “worthy” and He earned the right to have all given to Him by the Father, but the wonderful thing for us to know is that salvation is a gift and does not need to be earned (Romans 6:23).
