Worse than the Beginning
So much concern has been raised about the pollution of the environment that local, state, and federal agencies have been organized to prevent and correct it. Our greater concern, however, should not be man’s pollution of the earth, but man being spiritually polluted by the carnal world. Peter wrote that it is by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that we escape such pollution. That the word “escape” should be used to describe being rid of such pollution is to expose the threat that such spiritual pollution is to the soul. Peter indicated, however, that the only thing worse than never escaping the pollutions of the world is to escape them and then again to be entangled in them and be overcome by them. The latter end of such a one, Peter wrote, is worse than the beginning.
