Fullest Potential
One of the ways in which proper parents bestow love upon their children is by a proper upbringing. Neglected children, left to wander into sin and misbehavior, are relatively or totally unloved. At the Fourteenth of John, the Savior taught that we demonstrate our love for Him by the keeping of His commandments. However, the keeping of His commandments is less about His benefit than our own. First John Five reiterates that to observe God’s commandments is to show love for Him. However, the passage also notes that God’s commandments are not burdensome to us. Rather, the burden comes upon he who shows neither love nor obedience to God. Our Father has loved us by the provision of spiritual direction, and that direction enhances our lives to their fullest potential.
