Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left (Deuteronomy 5:32).
God has always called His people to full and complete obedience. Jesus said in the presence of the tempter, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Therefore obedience cannot be partial or incomplete or subject to human preference and still be obedience.
As we live the Christian life, we are to be “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). The way to heaven is straight and narrow, and will not turn aside from the footsteps of Jesus.
