And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent (John 17:3).

What can it mean to “know” God, for no person has ever seen the Father (John 1:18)? On one occasion the apostle Philip demanded of Jesus that He would show all the disciples the Father (John 14:8). Jesus’ reply seems to be somewhat from disappointment that such would be demanded, for He said: “Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:9).
The conclusion from Jesus’ reply to Philip is that in order to know God, one must learn about Jesus and that is a wonderful thought, for Jesus is described for us in detail in the Bible.
When I have Jesus, I have the Father! Praise God for His revelations of Himself.
