With Thee to Deliver Thee

It is recorded at the Seventh of Second Samuel that King David desired to build a house for the Lord in which the Ark of the Covenant could dwell. The prophet Nathan encouraged David to do as he wished until God informed the prophet that David was not to build the house but that his heir to the throne would do so. At the Twelfth Chapter, Nathan confronted and convicted David of sin concerning Bathsheba and her husband, Uriah, and revealed what the consequences of his iniquities would be. It must have taken courage for Nathan to tell the King that he could not do what he wanted concerning the Lord’s house and to confront him concerning a great personal shortcoming. However, if one speaks for the Lord, he must be both brave and honest. As God said to Jeremiah, “Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with thee to deliver thee.”
