Same Mind and Judgment

It was at the Twelfth of Matthew that the Savior was accused of casting out devils by the power of Beelzebub. Not only was the statement blasphemous, but also logically impossible; for Satan was alleged to have opposed himself. If he had, his influence would have long ago disappeared. The Lord took that opportunity to point out that divided kingdoms come to desolation, and divided cities and houses cannot stand. The unity of the Church, however, is maintained by the recognition that it is one Body, in the same sense that the Lord, the Father, and the Spirit are one. In these is the one hope of the spiritual calling, and in these is the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Paul described this condition to the Corinthian Church as speaking the same thing, having no divisions among them, and being perfectly joined together in the same mind and judgment.
