Light and Perfection

Contained in the breastplate of the High Priest were articles known as the Urim and the Thummim. It was by these that God, through the priest, would make known His judgment and counsel, though a more precise description is never given in Scripture of either the items themselves nor of their use and function. However, Urim and Thummim are thought to be approximate synonyms of light and perfection, though other possibilities have also been asserted. Although more cannot be known, it is more important to consider that, by them, God did make known certain important things, leaving us to understand that what is not revealed is also not necessary information for our spiritual purpose. Paul told Timothy that the Spirit-inspired Word completely furnishes the man of God unto all good works. In what is revealed, then, there is truly light and perfection.
