Praise the Lord

Click here for the audio version

Frequently in his Psalms, David used the expression, “Praise ye the Lord.” Written or said as a single word, that phrase would be “Hallelujah.” At the Nineteenth of Revelation, the same word appears as “Alleluia.” In the latter, the Lord is praised for the salvation, glory, and power that belong unto God, for His judgments both true and just, and His victory over the enemies of righteousness. In the former, David said the Lord should be praised for His mighty acts and His excellent greatness, and because it is good, pleasant, and comely to do so. The Thirteenth of Hebrews exhorts us to offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. Let everything that hath breath, David further wrote, praise the Lord. And again, praise ye the Lord. For what, and with what sincerity and truth, will you today praise the Lord?
