Daily Lift – March 31, 2015

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life (Revelation 2:10).

Long before W. Oliver Cooper wrote the song “Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All,” Jesus sent essentially this same encouragement to the saints at Smyrna (Revelation 2:10). Our Lord warned that times of trial and trouble would soon arrive. The Savior exhorted them to be faithful even if it meant dying for the cause. Fortunately, their suffering would be comparatively brief, and worth it all when they received the crown of life. The same is true for all Christians (Romans 8:18; 2 Timothy 4:6-8; James 1:12).

Thus we can sing…
Often I’m hindered on my way, burdened so heavy I almost fall. Then I hear Jesus sweetly say, “Heaven will surely be worth it all!”
