Daily Lift – March 8th, 2018

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19).

Through the years I have heard the word
REPENT used to mean “I’m sorry, I regret
what I did, I’m asking forgiveness, I’m confessing
my wrongs.” While all of these aspects may be
present in repentance, none of them fully define
repentance. Repent means “to turn around or to
change.” The idea is turning from the wrong and
turning toward the right. It is possible to be sorry
and not repent (2 Corinthians 7:10), but it is not
possible to repent without changing and turning
from wrong. Similarly, CONVERT means to
change from one thing to another. In the spiritual
sense it means to be changed from a sinner to a
saint, from lost to saved. Make no mistake, the
blotting out of sins and refreshing comes from
God and Him alone, but the repentance and
conversion must come from within us.
